From November 4 to 8, 2024, representatives of the International educational corporation (KazGASA) — Gulnara Abdrasilova, research professor, Doctor of Architecture; Mehriban Glaudinova, Doctor of Architecture, professor, and head of the UNESCO Department for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage; and Elvira Danibekova, associate research professor, PhD, and head of the OAP Department—visited the Faculty of Technology at the State Academy of Applied Sciences (PANS) in Nysa for a working visit.
IEC participates in the academic mobility program at PANS in Nysa under the Erasmus+ program. This marked the first visit by representatives of our university to the Nysa academy. During the visit, lectures were delivered to students and faculty of the Architecture program on topics such as «Sustainable Architectural Heritage: The Silk Road Today,» «The History of Architecture in Kazakhstan: The Steppe Phenomenon,» and «Innovations in Kazakh Architecture: History and Modernity.» The lectures sparked great interest, introducing attendees to the historical context, unique features, and development prospects of architecture in a region largely unknown to Polish and European architects.
The IEC representatives also met with Dr. Joanna Szczepańska, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Teaching at PANS, as well as with Anna Opalka, MA, head of the External Relations Department. The meeting focused on prospects for enhancing mutual collaboration, particularly in the field of student academic mobility. Additionally, the professors exchanged experiences with PANS faculty and students, discussing pressing issues in education and research.
The guests from Kazakhstan were also given tours that provided insight into Polish culture and contemporary architecture. Such events help strengthen international ties and open new opportunities for academic collaboration.
