On March 14, the Day of Italian Design in the world was held under the motto: “Creating value — inclusivity, innovation and sustainability”.
Italian Design Day is an annual thematic series of events launched in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture. It consists of an extensive program of promotional events around the world, implemented by a network of embassies, consulates, Italian cultural institutes and ICE offices abroad: every year on this occasion, more than a hundred prominent representatives become storytellers about the design and creativity of the Country.
During the visit of the Italian guests, a meeting was held between the Rector of the International Educational Corporation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr. Marco Alberti.
The main topic of discussion was the cooperation between the International Educational Corporation and the Polytechnic University of Milan. Ambassador Alberti stressed that it is important for him that this agreement becomes not just another of the many existing today between universities in Italy and Kazakhstan, but becomes an impetus for deepening ties between people, institutions and countries in general.
The director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Almaty, Dr. Eduardo Crisafulli, expressed interest in organizing joint research programs in the field of design, architecture and seismology. The Rector of the IOC confirmed that our university has a unique seismic platform for educational institutions in Kazakhstan and highly qualified specialists who, together with their Italian colleagues, can study such an important problem for our countries as seismic safety within the framework of an international research project.
Francesco Zurlo (Prof. Francesco Zurlo), Ambassador of Italian Design in Kazakhstan, Dean of the School of the Milan Polytechnic Institute, delivered a lecture to students and teachers of the IOC on the principles of the Italian school of design. In particular, he drew the attention of the audience to how important it is to remember that all design decisions are based on a person and his needs.
Also, as part of the Italian Design Day, the Italia Geniale exhibition was opened at the Institute of Italian Culture in Almaty. It presents samples of industrial design objects created in Italy. Undergraduates and students of the International Educational Corporation had the opportunity to see the best examples of Italian design live.
