Professors of IEC visited the State Academy of Applied Sciences in Nysa

From November 4 to 8, 2024, representatives of the International educational corporation (KazGASA) — Gulnara Abdrasilova, research professor, Doctor of Architecture; Mehriban Glaudinova, Doctor of Architecture, professor, and head of the UNESCO Department for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage; and Elvira Danibekova, associate research professor, PhD, and head of the OAP Department—visited the Faculty of Technology at the State Academy of Applied Sciences (PANS) in Nysa for a working visit.

IEC participates in the academic mobility program at PANS in Nysa under the Erasmus+ program. This marked the first visit by representatives of our university to the Nysa academy. During the visit, lectures were delivered to students and faculty of the Architecture program on topics such as “Sustainable Architectural Heritage: The Silk Road Today,” “The History of Architecture in Kazakhstan: The Steppe Phenomenon,” and “Innovations in Kazakh Architecture: History and Modernity.” The lectures sparked great interest, introducing attendees to the historical context, unique features, and development prospects of architecture in a region largely unknown to Polish and European architects.

The IEC representatives also met with Dr. Joanna Szczepańska, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Teaching at PANS, as well as with Anna Opalka, MA, head of the External Relations Department. The meeting focused on prospects for enhancing mutual collaboration, particularly in the field of student academic mobility. Additionally, the professors exchanged experiences with PANS faculty and students, discussing pressing issues in education and research.

The guests from Kazakhstan were also given tours that provided insight into Polish culture and contemporary architecture. Such events help strengthen international ties and open new opportunities for academic collaboration.

The First Stage of the “Best University Teacher” 2024 Contest Has Concluded

The first stage of the “Best University Teacher – 2024” contest has been completed within the International educational corporation. The contest is held to identify and support teachers who have achieved significant success in pedagogical and scientific activities. According to the rules established by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the contest consists of two stages: intra-university and national.

 

The first stage (intra-university) began on November 1, 2024, when teachers started registering and uploading materials through the Ministry’s information system. A total of 11 applications were submitted by faculty members from various departments of the International educational corporation:

– Zh.Zh. Tolegen, PhD, Associate Professor at FA;

– A.Z. Tukhtamisheva, PhD, Associate Professor at FSTIM;

– K.I. Ilyasova, Master of Economics, Assistant Professor at FSTIM;

– A.B. Ismailova, PhD, Associate Professor at FSTIM;

– I.B. Tashmukhanbetova, PhD, Associate Professor at FOS.

 

To participate, each candidate submitted the following documents: a standard application form, information on scientific and pedagogical achievements over the past five years, an annual work schedule, a personal data sheet, and a copy of their identity card. The documents were submitted for review by an expert committee comprised of faculty and administrative staff from the university. The expert committee analyzed the submitted materials based on qualitative and quantitative criteria outlined in the contest rules.

 

On November 11, 2024, the intra-university contest committee held a meeting where the expert group’s work was reviewed and the participants’ candidacies were considered. In accordance with the allocated quota for the national stage, which consists of 5 spots, the committee selected the teachers who achieved the highest results. They include:

IEС faculty participated in a Conference on Digital Technologies in Cartography and GIS

On November 7–8, 2024, representatives of the International educational corporation took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Digital Reality: New Challenges in Cartography, GIS, and Remote Sensing,” held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in celebration of the university’s 90th anniversary.

The International educational corporation was represented by faculty members of the faculty of construction technologies, infrastructure, and management: Associate Professor, PhD A.B. Umirbayeva, and Associate Professor B.T. Beysembin, who actively participated in the conference.

The purpose of the event was to explore and discuss pressing issues, new trends, and innovative approaches in cartography, geographic information systems, and remote sensing. The conference aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge and practical experience between scientific and practical specialists, as well as to identify new approaches to addressing challenges facing modern cartography and geoinformatics in the context of digitalization and rapid technological progress.

IEC Students Awarded Certificates of Appreciation from the Department of Emergency Situations of Almaty

On November 7, 2024, students of the International educational corporation were awarded certificates of appreciation from the leadership of the Department of Emergency Situations of Almaty, under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These awards recognized the students’ work in designing the official logo and mascot for the XIII World Championship among Boys and Juniors and the IX World Championship among Girls and Juniors in Fire and Rescue Sports, held from August 13 to 19 under the auspices of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to GD-20-5 group students Dina Azhybekova, Ainur Akkhuan, Aisulu Ryspaeva, Dana Sergazina, and Lyazzat Tleubayeva.

 

For their assistance in organizing and supporting the championship, IEC Rector, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova, and Dean of the Faculty of Design, Candidate of Arts, Alexander Alexandrovich Zimenko, were awarded badges from the Kazakhstan Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, as well as letters of appreciation from the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.

MIDAS Technical Seminar at IEC

On November 5, 2024, a joint technical seminar on MIDAS was held at the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA), organized with the participation of leading specialists and representatives from MIDAS. The event focused on discussing modern trends in the construction industry, showcasing new capabilities of MIDAS software, and facilitating knowledge exchange between users and developers.

 

The opening speeches were given by Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova, Rector of IEC, and Oleg Alekseevich Kan, CEO of MIDAS. During the seminar, company technical specialists Alexander Krasnoperov and Evgeniy Yudintsev provided an overview of the latest features in the MIDAS GTS NX and MIDAS Gen software complexes, highlighting their importance for construction design and modeling.

 

During the seminar, an agreement was signed between IEC (KazGASA) and MIDAS to use licensed versions of the MIDAS software complex in the academic curriculum.

The IEC and the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction have signed a memorandum of cooperation

On October 29, the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA) welcomed a delegation from the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, headed by rector Gyulchohra Huseyn Kizi Mammadova. 

During the visit, the delegation was given a tour of IEC’s infrastructure, including modern laboratories and the new academic building. Additionally, discussions were held on joint research projects and the exchange of expertise. IEC’s rector Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova and rector of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Gyulchohra Huseyn Kizi Mammadova signed a memorandum of cooperation. The primary goal of the meeting was to strengthen partnerships between the institutions and foster bilateral collaboration.

 

An event dedicated to Republic Day was held at the IEC

On October 24, 2024, the International educational corporation hosted a ceremonial event in honor of Republic Day. Students, professors, and staff members of the corporation actively participated in the celebration, and it was particularly pleasing to see faculty, staff, and students dressed in traditional national costumes.

 

A highlight of the event was the performance of the national anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which brought everyone together and created an atmosphere of unity and patriotism. The celebration within the corporation’s walls became a symbol of respect for national culture and traditions, reminding everyone of the importance of this day for the country.

 

Professor Thomas Auf der Heyde from Constructor University (Germany) visited the International educational corporation

On October 22, the International educational corporation was visited by Professor Thomas Auf der Heyde, Executive Director and Vice President for International Cooperation and Public Engagement at Constructor University (Germany).

 

During his visit, the professor was introduced to the infrastructure of IEC, including modern laboratories and the new academic building. Special attention was given to the innovative educational methods used at KazGASA for training world-class specialists.

 

Additionally, Professor Thomas Auf der Heyde met with IEC Rector Margarita Bulatovna to discuss prospects for future collaboration and joint projects in the fields of education and scientific research.

We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the academic mobility program for the Spring semester of the 2025 academic year. The International Educational Corporation is offering 2 spots for study at Cracow University of Technology (Poland) under self-funded conditions.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

– Students from the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of General Construction are eligible to participate.

– The program is open to 2nd and 3rd-year undergraduate students who have no financial or academic debts and have a GPA above 3.30.

 

Funding:

The education is based on a bilateral agreement between the universities, covering the cost of the academic program. All other expenses, including flights, visa fees, health insurance, and accommodation, are the student’s responsibility.

 

Application Deadline:

October 29. The study period will last from February 24 to June 30, 2025.

 

Minimum Requirements:

– Candidates must have completed at least one full academic year at the undergraduate level by the time of nomination (2nd-3rd-year students).

– English proficiency at the B2 level, confirmed by a valid certificate:

  – IELTS – 6.0+

  – TOEFL: iBT – at least 87, CBT – at least 180 + TSE at least 50, PBT – at least 500 + TWE at least 3.5 + TSE at least 50

  – TOEIC – at least 700

  – CAE or FCE certificate

IEC Joins the International Consortium of Architectural and Construction Universities

From October 17 to 21, 2024, a delegation from the International educational corporation (KazGASA), including rector M.B. Imandosova, provost B.A. Sabdenaliev, dean of the general construction faculty Zh.N. Moldamuratov, and director of KazGASA College E.M. Mamyrbekov, visited Beijing and Tianjin, China and participated in the forum of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC).

Since its establishment in 2017, the BRAUIC has steadily expanded its membership. This year, seven new members were approved, including KazGASA. The consortium also updated its logo to reflect new members, symbolizing the connection of countries within the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and emphasizing the importance of cooperation and cultural exchange.

KazGASA officially joined the “Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium” (BRAUIC), which brings together 91 universities from 30 countries worldwide. Consortium members unanimously supported KazGASA’s candidacy to chair the consortium conference in 2025. During the flag handover ceremony, rector M.B. Imandosova expressed hopes for a successful gathering and invited all consortium members to Kazakhstan in 2025.

Joining the International Consortium of Architectural and Construction Universities opens up new opportunities for the International educational corporation (KazGASA) to actively collaborate with member universities worldwide. KazGASA became the first university in Kazakhstan to join the international consortium and will host this significant forum in Kazakhstan in 2025. This event will not only strengthen KazGASA’s international connections but also elevate Kazakhstan’s status as an important platform for global dialogue in architectural and construction education.
