The IEC and SPERI S.p.A. signed a memorandum of cooperation

On September 20, 2024, the International educational corporation and the Italian company SPERI S.p.A. signed a memorandum of cooperation. 

 

SPERI S.p.A., founded in 1974, specializes in architectural design and has branches on three continents, with headquarters in Milan. In 2024, the company opened its branch in Almaty, which was an important step to expand its presence in the international arena.

 

According to the memorandum, the parties plan to jointly implement projects in such key areas as urban planning, seismic exploration and geotechnics. The memorandum was signed by Rector of the International educational corporation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova and CEO of SPERI S.p.A. Valter Macchi

 

This cooperation opens up new opportunities for the exchange of experience and the introduction of advanced technologies in the field of architecture and urban planning.



The IEC hosted the Demo Day of the Sustainable Smart City 2024 incubator

On September 21, the International educational corporation hosted the final stage of the Sustainable Smart City 2024 incubator program, where young innovators and professionals presented their solutions for the future of our cities. The event was attended by students of 1-5 courses of the IEC and other universities, as well as young specialists and innovators who worked on real cases from the BI Group company with the support of Most BI.

The incubator program started with more than 150 participants and 40 teams, but only the 10 strongest of them reached the finals. During the incubation, the participants took master classes and mentoring sessions from the leaders of the construction industry, which helped them develop their projects and bring them to the presentation stage. The finalists presented their solutions at the pitching, where a prize fund of 1,000,000 tenge was awarded and an opportunity to cooperate with BI Group was provided.

In addition, a project was presented to solve the removal of construction debris, for which a separate prize fund of 100,000 tenge was awarded.

The jury included business angels, venture investors, as well as experts from the construction and startup industries. Aigazy Amirlanovich Kusainov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the International educational corporation, was appointed Chairman of the jury.

Real design – 3rd place

Shecodeimpact – the audience award was awarded to free training at the RnD Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems of KAZGAS and free access to the Digital Marketing course from Netpeak Kazakhstan on the Influencers educational platform.

Demo Day became a significant event that brought together the best young minds of Kazakhstan, who proposed innovative solutions for sustainable urban development.

The IEC and the International Real Estate Federation FIABCI – Central Asia signed a memorandum of cooperation

On September 21, 2024, the International educational corporation and the International Real Estate Federation FIABCI – Central Asia signed a memorandum of cooperation.

 

Within the framework of the partnership, the parties plan active cooperation aimed at sharing advanced knowledge, organizing joint educational programs, lectures and events, as well as strengthening international relations. Special attention will be paid to creating new opportunities for students and professionals involved in urban studies, architecture and real estate management.

 

The first step in the development of the partnership will be a guest lecture by the famous Hong Kong architect James Low, which will take place in October.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was Signed between the International Educational Corporation and Alumen Systems

On September 18, 2024, a memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed between the International Educational Corporation and Alumen Systems LLP. This event marks the further strengthening of the partnership established in the spring of 2024, when, at the initiative of Alumen Systems, the “Smart Construction School” training center was opened at KazGASA. The primary mission of the center is to train highly qualified specialists in the design, calculation, and installation of transparent structural connections and ventilated facade systems.

Over the past few months, the center has been operating in a test mode. The first phase of training included courses for KazGASA faculty members. In the near future, Smart Construction School will begin offering advanced training programs for engineering and technical specialists from construction companies, opening up new opportunities for professional growth in the construction industry. Additionally, KazGASA students will also undergo training at this center.

Alumen Systems is part of the Alumen Group consortium, which includes 22 large companies from Germany, Turkey, and Russia, specializing in various construction technologies. Currently, the company is actively expanding its activities in the construction sector.

This cooperation opens up prospects for the introduction of advanced technologies and the improvement of construction quality in Kazakhstan.

 

Delegation of IEC Visited Constructor University in Bremen

On September 12-13, the IEC delegation, represented by the Provost and the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, visited Constructor University in Bremen, Germany, in response to the visit of Constructor University Chairman Serge Bell to IEC in August 2024. 

On the first day, our delegation attended the Constructor Demo Day, where the university’s unique ecosystem was showcased, along with a startup pitching session. Demo Day attracted a high concentration of business angels, VC investors, and entrepreneurs from around the world. 

The second day was focused on a more detailed introduction to Constructor University. The IEC representatives were given a campus tour, a visit to the laboratories, and participated in 11 meetings with the President, Provost, Deans, scientists, and even Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov. 

We express our gratitude to the Constructor University team for the invitation and warm hospitality. 

As a result of the two-day visit, both universities reached an agreement on developing joint efforts in educational programs, academic mobility, science, and the digitalization of education. This collaboration opens up extensive opportunities for IEC students and the education system as a whole.



Guest Lecture by Alumni and Professors of the Architectural Association in London at IEC

On September 6, 2024, the International Educational Corporation (KazGASA) hosted a guest lecture featuring alumni and professors from one of the world’s most prestigious architecture schools — the Architectural Association in London. The speakers of the event, Tomiris Batalova and Ludwig Holmen, presented their innovative projects and shared their expertise in the field of architecture.

Tomiris Batalova presented her project “Project Mayhem: Dolphin House II,” which explores the interaction between humans and dolphins within the framework of “Neuralink,” examining the impact of technology on nature. Ludwig Holmen introduced “Smooth Collage,” comparing the influence of AI tools with traditional visualization methods in architectural design.

The lecture allowed participants to immerse themselves in the world of future architecture, blending cutting-edge technology with classical approaches. Both students and faculty gained new perspectives on architectural projects, inspired by innovative design and visualization methods.

Opening of a new classroom “Library of Materials” at the Faculty of Design

On August 26, 2024, the International Educational Corporation held a grand opening of a new classroom at the Design Faculty – “Materials Library”. This project was implemented in cooperation with Blum Central Asia, which acted as a sponsor.

The opening was attended by the Rector of the International Educational Corporation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova, as well as the General Director of Blum Central Asia Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Sharutina. They noted the importance of this project for the development of students’ educational opportunities, and also emphasized the significance of partnership with industrial leaders in the formation of a high-quality educational process.

“Materials Library” will become an important resource for students and teachers of the faculty, providing access to modern materials and technologies in the field of design.

IEC opens new 400-bed student dormitory

On August 24, the grand opening of the new student dormitory of the International Educational Corporation, designed for 400 people, took place in Almaty.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Deputy Akim of Almaty Azamat Kaldybekov, Director of the representative office of Financial Center JSC Ulan Utebayev, Head of the Project Office Damir Kutumov and Rector of the IEC Margarita Bulatovna Imandosova.
The building is a reconstructed facility created to provide students with comfortable conditions for living, studying and active recreation.
The dormitory has two-, four- and six-bed rooms. Each floor has kitchens, showers, laundries, and storage rooms for seasonal items. A fitness room, a mock-up room and a study room are equipped for students. The dormitory is under 24-hour security, and CCTV cameras are installed on the territory. The IEC has taken an important step in supporting students by creating favorable conditions for their learning and personal growth.

SUSTEX Hackathon 2024 Held at the IEC

On August 19-21, the SUSTEX Hackathon 2024, organized with the support of Most BI and the Teplo Charitable Foundation, was successfully held at the International Educational Corporation on the basis of KAZGASA. The event brought together teams that offered innovative ideas and solutions in the field of textile waste recycling.

During the hackathon, participants listened to a series of lectures and master classes from leading industry experts, exchanged experiences with like-minded people and presented their projects to an independent jury and event partners. The total prize fund amounted to 500,000 tenge, and the winners also received vouchers for a trip to Turkey.

             Hackathon results:

– 1st place: Reveco team – Recycling of wearable clothes into a new product.

– 2nd place: the Eco Seat team – Ecological seats made of rice husks and textile emissions.

– 3rd place: The “EcoWise” team is an application with a system for calculating the carbon footprint of textile products from the production of raw materials to decomposition in landfills and/or recycling.

– Audience Award: The MindWorks team – The re.omir project is a web application for the sale, exchange and recycling of clothing aimed at reducing textile waste and reasonable consumption.

The IEC was visited by the famous Singaporean entrepreneur Serg Bell

On August 16, the International Education Corporation hosted a visit by famous Singaporean entrepreneur and venture investor Serge Bell, founder of such companies as Acronis, Parallels and Acumatica. As a specialist in technology, science and education, Serge Bell highly appreciated the IEC’s contribution to domestic education, emphasizing that the KazGASA brand is widely recognized in the international arena.

As part of the visit, the guest was shown the IEC infrastructure, including modern laboratories and a new academic building. Particular attention was paid to the advanced educational methods and approaches that are used at KazGASA to train world-class specialists.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue joint collaboration, expand international interactions and bilateral cooperation, which will open up new opportunities for IEC students and teachers in the global educational space.
