IEC Joins the International Consortium of Architectural and Construction Universities

From October 17 to 21, 2024, a delegation from the International educational corporation (KazGASA), including rector M.B. Imandosova, provost B.A. Sabdenaliev, dean of the general construction faculty Zh.N. Moldamuratov, and director of KazGASA College E.M. Mamyrbekov, visited Beijing and Tianjin, China and participated in the forum of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC).

Since its establishment in 2017, the BRAUIC has steadily expanded its membership. This year, seven new members were approved, including KazGASA. The consortium also updated its logo to reflect new members, symbolizing the connection of countries within the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and emphasizing the importance of cooperation and cultural exchange.

KazGASA officially joined the “Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium” (BRAUIC), which brings together 91 universities from 30 countries worldwide. Consortium members unanimously supported KazGASA’s candidacy to chair the consortium conference in 2025. During the flag handover ceremony, rector M.B. Imandosova expressed hopes for a successful gathering and invited all consortium members to Kazakhstan in 2025.

Joining the International Consortium of Architectural and Construction Universities opens up new opportunities for the International educational corporation (KazGASA) to actively collaborate with member universities worldwide. KazGASA became the first university in Kazakhstan to join the international consortium and will host this significant forum in Kazakhstan in 2025. This event will not only strengthen KazGASA’s international connections but also elevate Kazakhstan’s status as an important platform for global dialogue in architectural and construction education.

The IEC Delegation Strengthens International Ties During Visit to China

From October 17 to 21, a delegation from the International educational corporation (KazGASA), led by rector M.B. Imandosova, provost B.A. Sabdenaliev, gean of the general construction faculty Zh.N. Moldamuratov, and director of the KazGASA College E.M. Mamyrbekov, visited the People’s Republic of China.

During this visit, the delegation toured the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) and Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU). A memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed with BUCEA.

During the BRAUIC forum, multiple meetings were held with representatives of leading universities from China, Malaysia, Singapore, and the European Union to discuss expanding academic connections and cooperation in research activities. In addition, representatives from over 40 universities and companies across 12 countries, including more than 100 consortium members, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs, discussed the development of the International Consortium for Architectural and Construction Educational Programs under the Belt and Road initiative. The theme of this year’s forum, “Building a Path of Prosperity Together, Creating a Shared Future,” emphasized strengthening collaboration in architectural and construction education, developing innovative educational programs, and preparing professionals for sustainable development in a globalized world.

The event included a preparatory consortium meeting, the 2024 official meeting, and a Rector’s Forum, where opportunities and challenges facing architectural and construction universities in the context of global changes were discussed. The event also featured four thematic parallel sessions focused on cultural heritage preservation, green cities and sustainable development, urban renewal, and artificial intelligence.

A significant outcome of the forum was the establishment of five specialized committees within the consortium: Urban Planning and Architectural Design, Civil Construction and Smart Technologies, Resources and Renewable Energy, Smart Cities and Transportation, and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. These committees aim to facilitate deeper and more specialized collaboration among consortium members.

This visit opens new opportunities for the International educational corporation (KazGASA) to engage with leading architectural and construction universities worldwide, enhancing the corporation’s international standing.
